So, as we have all learned by now, I am an addict. A book addict, to be exact. As such, I am constantly watching for new books that I may be interested in. Edelweiss+, a site that offers DRC to booksellers, librarians, and reviewers, is where I tend to find everything (that is also where all the beautiful covers to follow came from.) Now, I have a Goodreads account, and I could probably do just as well on there, but this is… easier. And I can read them if I want! With Goodreads, I have to wait. Sometimes I just don’t have the patience for that.
Anyway, let’s get into the real reason you are here, which is not to read about my book browsing. You want to know what is on my Radar! February seems like it will be the month of romance, but fantasy is giving it a run for its money. Below are some of the fantasy novels I am looking forward to.
- The Warm Hands of Ghosts by Katherine Arden: I loved Arden’s The Bear and the Nightingale series. Russian folklore is so underdone, and I loved that little peek into a fantasy world full of spirits of old. In this, a combat nurse searches for the truth about her brother’s supposed death.
- Fathomfolk by Eliza Chan: A story of revolution and magic inspired by myth, set against a semi-submerged world where the visions of a safe haven may just be a mirage.
- An Education in Malice by S.T. Gibson: The sequel to A Dowry of Blood. Need I say more?
- A Fate Inked in Blood by Danielle L. Jensen: The first in a new series by the author of the beloved The Bridge Kingdom series. Inspired by Norse myth, a shield maiden blessed by the gods must unite the kingdom and resist temptation.
- Projections by S.E. Porter: “Love may last a lifetime, but in this dark historical fantasy, the bitterness of rejection endures for centuries.” -Goodreads. What is not to love about a fantasy revenge story?
- A Flame in the North by Lilith Saintcrow: Norse. Mythology. I am a sucker for myth retellings and myth-inspired fiction.
- Lore of the Wilds by Analeigh Sbrana: An enchanted library? Possible love triangle? Sign me up!
- The Briar Book of the Dead by A.G. Slatter: Recommended for fans of Hannah Whitten’s For the Wolf? Tell me more.
- Tales of the Celestial Kingdom by Sue Lynn Tan: Umm, I have to have a complete collection. Don’t you?

Like I said, February is dropping romances like it’s going out of style. Now, typically, I am not a rom-com reader, but I am up for giving them a try. Especially if I can get my hands on ARC’s. I am normally more into dark romance and romantasy. Contemporary has never really been my thing, but if I do read a contemporary, I want it to destroy me on the deepest emotional level because I may possibly be a tiny bit of a masochist.
- Not Your Crushes Cauldron by April Asher: It’s witchy. It’s punny. Enough said.
- Fangirl Down by Tessa Bailey: I love Tessa! She was one of the first rom-com authors I read, and I fell in love with her quirky characters. She does a great job with character growth and is kinda spicy for her genre.
- At First Spite by Olivia Dade: Look at that cover, look at it. She knows she’s sexy. She knows she is intelligent. She knows she is powerful. I want her story.
- Waiting for the Flood by Alexis Hall: I won’t lie; I own the first one in this series, but I haven’t read it yet. It’s on this list because once I finally buckle down and read EVERYTHING by him, I know I will love them.
- When Grumpy Met Sunshine by Charlotte Stein: Yeah, this one is purely because the cover and title are cute.
- Hate & Liar by Tate James: These are books one and two in the Madison Kate series. Want to know why I want to read them? This sentence right here. “Madison Kate Danvers was murdered tonight.”
- Lonely for You Only by Monica Murphy: What girl doesn’t dream about falling in love with a music or TV star? I’m sure they are out there, but I’m not one of them. This sounds like a good time.
- The Devil’s Waltz by Jessi Elliott: Ever since I read Kingdom of the Wicked by Kerri Maniscalco, I have been craving more demon romance. I hope this gives those same sinful vibes.
- Bride by Ali Hazelwood: Vampires. Vampires! VAMPIRES! That is all.

So, YA is also my jam, even if I haven’t read any in a minute. That is just me getting distracted and sidetracked again. That doesn’t stop me from wanting all of them, though.
- The Bad Ones by Melissa Albert: I loved The Hazel Wood by Albert, and this story sounded just as dark and enthralling as her previous works.
- My Throat an Open Grave by Tori Bovalino: This book has Labyrinth vibes. That movie is seared in my childhood memories. My mom was born in the 70’s and I took to her favorite music and movies while young. Labyrinth is one of those I’ll never forget.
- Heartless Hunter by Kristen Ciccarelli: Forbidden romance between a witch and a witch-hunter. Say less. I’m sure you can see a trend here in my preferences. Oops.
- Compass and Blade by Rachel Greenlaw:I love a morally grey protagonist. Causing shipwrecks so you can rescue the survivors and steal their stuff from the wreckage? Sign me up.
- To Cage a God by Elizabeth May: Their mom bound gods in their bones. Yes, in their bones. Trapped them inside her children’s skeletons. Nothing could possibly go wrong here.
- Where the Dark Stands Still by A.B. Poranek: This sounds like a Grimm’s fairytale. Dark and gory and disturbing, I hope it delivers.
- Daughter of the Bone Forest by Jasmine Skye: Queer. Bone and Death magic. Political intrigue. Yup, I’m here for it. Let’s go, I’m ready.
- The Broken Elf King by Leia Stone: Alright, alright, I know. I really should read the first one in the series before getting the second one. But don’t you know I’ll need the sequel the minute I finish the first? It’s logic.
- Dead Things are Closer Than They Appear by Robin Wasley: Magic and the apocalypse? How will I survive without this book in my life? I won’t.
- The Fox Wife byYangsze Choo: I have always loved the beauty of Asian folktales. This gives me the same feeling, and I can’t wait to immerse myself in the wintery, spectral vibes of this story. Plus, I love foxes.
- Neferura by Malayna Evans: I did mention I like mythology, right? Okay, good. I want this because there are not enough Egyptian mythology retellings out there.
- Medea by Eilish Quin: Yeah, still feeding that mythology obsession.
- The Hollow Dead by Darcy Coates: I love Darcy’s writing. This is book four in this series. And no, I haven’t read the first three yet. But I am going to, I swear!

So there you have it. My incredibly ridiculous want-to-read/buy/listen-to list for February. With how slow I read, there is no way I would get through all of them, but that doesn’t mean they are any less than amazing in my mind. What books are you looking forward to in February? With Valentine’s Day coming up, will you be bingeing romances? or will it put you in more of a horror mood? Tell me in the comments!
Until the next page,
Dani
