I am… Easily Distracted…

So, I know I promised everyone (myself truly) that I would focus on the ACOTAR series in preparation for the release of Crescent City 3. I am currently about 200 pages into A Court of Wings and Ruin, but I keep finding my mind wandering.

I am a chronic series jumper. I will read one or two books in the series and then jump into something else and completely forget the original series. I never mean to do it; it just happens. I have this great new planner that was recommended to me by my friend and coworker, Heidi. It has all these great challenges in it, including one called 24 in 24. The goal is to read 24 books I already have, and so I chose to read the books of series I never finished. Yes, I know, 24 unfinished series is outrageous. I can’t help it, I swear! If you want to be truly upset with me, I’ll tell you about all the series I own that I NEVER STARTED. That is maybe one of my biggest quirks (flaws?) as a reader. I will buy a book that I think sounds good, never read it, and then buy the sequel when it comes out just because I have the first one. I even do it with special editions. I have every Olivie Blake book out there, all of them special editions, and I have read not a single one. I know I’m awful.

Wow, that was a ramble, wasn’t it? Anyway, my point with this post was to update you on what I am reading. Even though I work for Barnes & Noble, I do have one of those naughty Kindle Unlimited subscriptions. I regret nothing! Sometimes, lugging a book around is a bit much, but I hate being without something to read. Thus, my reason for this guilty pleasure. Waiting for the doctor? Open the Kindle app on my phone. Lunch break? Awkward family get-together? Kindle Unlimited to the rescue! Easily distracted book-brain? Well, hello, Kindle; what do you recommend for me today? And this is how I got sucked into the Tempting Monsters series by Kathryn Moon. It is a monster romance trilogy, and it is filthy! I have already completed the first two books in the series, A Lady of Rooksgrave Manor and The Company of Fiends. Both were a dirty, filthy, sexy good time. No, there is not a lot of plot in there, but what plot it does have is enticing. Between all the smutty goodness is a paranormal battle, and I live for it. So now I am working on the final novel, Sanctuary with Kings, and I have about 25% to go. I am truly ready for the heroines from all three novels to join together and take the villain down!

What will I read after that, you ask? No idea. I really should focus on the SJM series. I only have 10 days until the new book releases, and I am not even close to ready! Will I be able to focus? Doubtful. Maybe I’ll finally finish the books I never finished in November and December. Maybe I’ll get sucked into another KU rec. Or it’s possible a customer will sucker me into buying something? Hell, I could let Heidi bully (in the most precious way possible) into a horror frenzy. I never know. I am truly bookish chaos incarnate.

What about you? Do you series jump? Can you stay in one world from start to finish? Do you know your next read before you have finished your current one? Tell me in the comments.

Until the next page,

Dani
