I want to start by apologizing for my unexpected hiatus.
But sometimes, life likes to throw us curveballs, and I was not prepared for them. These curveballs led to some of the most intense and unpleasant decisions I’ve had to make in a long time.
When this is published, I will have left my husband, moved into my own apartment, and quit my job at Barnes & Noble. It’s a lot of dramatic change, but I hope it will lead to a healthier life moving forward. I want better for my daughter and myself.
In regards to my ex, this was a mutual decision. We just weren’t meant to live together, but that doesn’t mean we don’t still care about one another or that we can’t be friends and co-parent effectively. He is a great man and a wonderful father. I am grateful for the chance to have him in my life. But since we have split, that means I need to be more aware of how work impacts my daughter. Since she will be with me during the week, I need to be home with her, so two jobs just isn’t feasible anymore. Even though I miss Barnes & Noble, the work, the customers, and the team, it was not something that could support my family on its own, so I had to say goodbye.
What does this mean for my blog? Well, hopefully, it means less chaos and more focus. I may upgrade my whole setup, but that is to be determined. Either way, my goal is to post more consistently. I want to try for once a week, but I can get scattered, so we will have to see how it goes. I am also not going to overload myself with books each month. I will pick a vibe for the month and try to pick reads that fit my vibe. I hope it works, but if not I’ll try something else until I get this down to an art. I enjoy this, and if nothing ever comes of it, that is okay. I just want to talk bookish.
Thanks for your understanding on this, and again, I am so sorry for disappearing on you for so long. I will do better, I promise.
Until the next page,
Dani
