Introducing my Bookish Boyfriend!

We all have a type. The type of book we want to read. The type of TV we want to watch. The type of music we want to listen to. The type of person we want to be with.

So, in honor of Valentine’s Day, I asked some of my coworkers and friends an important question. Who is their bookish boyfriend? The answers were as varied as the wonderful women themselves.

Rumalda: My amazing boss and an avid fantasy lover

She picked Sorin from Lady of Darkness. When I asked Rumalda, I’ll admit it was out of the blue. She didn’t even know I wrote a blog. Turns out she likes her fictional men (and maybe the real ones…) to not be intimidated by a powerful woman. Yeah, they know they are the alpha male and can protect her, but they also respect that she can handle herself. You know? I don’t think I’d mind that kind of guy myself.

Taylor: My future therapist and the best kind of manga nerd (she also works in our cafe)

Did I ask Tae why she picked Nanami from Jujutsu Kaisen? No, no I didn’t. Did I need to? Probably. Yet here we are with this gorgeous blonde badass, and that is enough for me.

Grace: Actually, a mermaid in disguise and lover of all things young adult

Aaron Warner. I won’t lie; Grace picked probably the most toxic love interest of the bunch. But Warner would kill for Juliet. Warner would burn the world for Juliet. Warner would die for Juliet. Warner would make you want to burn the world, murder, and die for Juliet. What is more romantic than that?

Addie: my work flirt (I am awful at it, but it makes her smile) and current reading slump sufferer

In contrast to Grace, Addie may have picked the healthiest love interest. Maxon is handsome, romantic, considerate, and humble despite being a prince. Honestly, if I didn’t already have a bookish boyfriend, I would probably fight Addie for hers. Who doesn’t want someone to look at them like they are the whole world? Or have them admit that they would give up the whole world to be with them? Swoon.

Elizabeth: future romantasy main character and constant emptier of my wallet

Ichigo from Bleach. Sigh. Who doesn’t love Ichigo? He’s strong, compassionate, family-oriented, a defender of the weak, and an all-around heartthrob. Elizabeth and I have matching t-shirts for his fan club.

I guess that leaves me then, doesn’t it?

Dani: blog writer and book addict

I am gone for Thomas Cresswell. I find men who are intelligent, slightly arrogant, and highly romantic to be my weakness. That fits Thomas to a t. He knows almost immediately that Audrey Rose is the one. He doesn’t belittle her when she’s wrong but helps her get to the answer. He doesn’t push his feelings on her. Instead, he tells her he will wait for her to love him back. He doesn’t lord his power as a male over her but uses it to help her succeed. He shares her passions and her fears. He soothes her in the more turbulent times and doesn’t refuse her when she does the same for him. He is accepting of those different from him, so long as it hurts no one. Thomas Cresswell is the bookish boyfriend for me. Oh, how I envy Audrey Rose.

Who is your bookish partner? Why did you pick them? Tell me in the comments below.

Until the next page,

Dani
